Our Lady of the Assumption School is a Catholic Elementary School serving students in Preschool and TK – Grade 8 in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. OLA provides a faith-based, quality education developing the whole child. The school’s Mission Statement reads: Our Lady of the Assumption School commits itself to provide an education based on Catholic values and academic excellence, in a caring and safe atmosphere, in partnership with the family and parish community.
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Preschool Instructional Aide to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will support the lead teacher in creating a safe, faith-filled, and stimulating environment where young children can grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
- Supervise children during classroom time, outdoor play, and meal times to ensure safety.
- Provide one-on-one support to students who require extra guidance.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
- Model Christian values and foster a positive, collaborative atmosphere with staff and parents.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Early Childhood Education: Must have completed at least 12 semester units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (core courses should include Child/Human Growth and Development; Child, Family, and Community; and Program/Curriculum).
- Training: Must have completed (or be willing to complete) Live Scan fingerprinting and VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” training through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification (Preferred); Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (Preferred).
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor, and a genuine interest in working with preschool-aged children.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
