Description

Child Supervision & Safety

  • Maintain constant and active supervision of children at all times, including during indoor activities, outdoor play/recess, meals and snacks, transitions, and rest periods.
  • Ensure children remain in designated supervised areas and follow established safety procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child supervision and ratios according to program and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor children’s interactions and intervene appropriately when safety or behavioral concerns arise.
  • Ensure children are released only to authorized parents, guardians, or designated adults during pick-up.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns to the daycare director.

Hygie\ne & Personal Care

  • Assist younger children with diaper changes, potty training, toileting, handwashing, and other hygiene needs.
  • Follow proper sanitation and hygiene procedures during diapering and toileting.
  • Encourage children to develop age-appropriate independence with personal care and hygiene.
  • Maintain children’s privacy and dignity while assisting with personal care needs.

Snacks & Meals

  • Prepare, distribute, and supervise children during snacks and meals.
  • Follow program procedures regarding food preparation, serving, and clean-up.
  • Be aware of and follow documented food allergies and dietary restrictions for individual children.
  • Monitor children while eating to maintain a safe environment.
  • Clean and sanitize eating areas after meals and snacks.

Parent Communication

  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and guardians.
  • Provide appropriate updates regarding children’s daily behavior, eating habits, activities, and other relevant information.
  • Communicate behavioral concerns to parents professionally and appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Refer significant concerns or sensitive matters to the daycare director when appropriate.

Injury, Illness & Incident Reporting

  • Document all injuries, accidents, illnesses, and significant behavioral incidents accurately and promptly.
  • Immediately notify the daycare director of injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other significant incidents.
  • Communicate incidents to the child’s parent or guardian according to program procedures.
  • Complete required incident or injury documentation thoroughly and accurately.
  • Follow established emergency, first-aid, and safety procedures when an injury or illness occurs.

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized daycare environment.
  • Clean and disinfect toys, tables, mats, classroom materials, and frequently used surfaces as required.
  • Assist with daily classroom and daycare clean-up.
  • Properly store materials and supplies after use.
  • Follow health, sanitation, and infection-control procedures established by the program.

Team Collaboration

  • Work cooperatively with staff, teachers, administrators, and the Pre School director.
  • Communicate important information regarding students to appropriate staff members.
  • Follow all school, daycare, health, safety, and licensing policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
  • Successfully complete required fingerprinting and background clearance.
  • Provide required TB testing/clearance.
  • Obtain required medical fitness/health clearance.
  • Maintain current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, as required by the program or licensing regulations.
  • Provide any additional health records, immunization documentation, or clearances required for employment and childcare licensing.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
