Description
St. Brendan School, a TK–8 Catholic elementary school in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, seeks a motivated and faith-filled individual to join our collaborative faculty team as a part-time Physical Education teacher.
The ideal candidate will design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that foster students’ understanding of the importance of physical activity, overall wellness, and healthy living. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop lifelong fitness habits while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, personal responsibility, and positive social and emotional growth in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Deliver instruction in physical education, health, fitness, and a variety of individual, partner, and team sports that promote lifelong wellness and active lifestyles.
- Ensure a safe learning environment by providing safety instruction, enforcing established procedures, and responding appropriately to emergencies.
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior, sportsmanship, and participation to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student growth in physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, and overall participation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with school personnel and families to support students’ physical, social, emotional, and academic development.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other assigned school activities to ensure safety and positive student interactions.
- Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.
- Perform additional responsibilities that support the mission, goals, and daily operations of the school as directed by administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience teaching elementary or middle school students is preferred.
- Strong management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
