Description
The duties are as follows (but are not limited to):
- To teach the adopted course of study as assigned by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
- To provide planned learning experience in order to motivate pupils, best utilize the available time for instruction, and to help them transition to kindergarten
- To develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and teaching methods in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual pupils
- To establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, and provide guidance in developing qualities of good citizenship
- To evaluate pupil’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on the individual pupil’s progress through home visitation and /or teacher-parent conferences
- To identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- To create a functional and attractive environment for learning
- To participate in appropriate in-service educational activities provided by the district
- To perform basic attendance accounting and related services To select and requisition books, instructional aides and supplies, and maintain inventory
- To ensure a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible
- To supervise pupils in out-of-class activities during the working day, as assigned, according to law
- To participate in curriculum development and related programs within the school assignment or on a district level
- To support sponsored student activities and participate on faculty committees
- To cooperate with and assist fellow teachers and to be available in times of emergency
- To cooperate with other professional staff members and classified personnel
- To plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other para-professionals
Requirements
The requirements are as follows:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Credentials are a plus (but not needed yet)
- VIRTUS trained and fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (can be pending)
- Deep sense of his/her faith
- Passion for children
- Resourceful
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
