Nativity Catholic School is a coeducational Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade Catholic school located in Torrance, California. As a ministry of Nativity Catholic Church, our mission is to provide a faith-filled environment where students grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Nativity Catholic School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Part-Time Spanish Teacher to provide engaging Spanish language instruction to students in grades 4–8. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the school day.
The ideal candidate will develop and implement age-appropriate lessons that introduce and strengthen Spanish vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, conversation, reading, and writing skills. Instruction should also foster an appreciation for Hispanic cultures and traditions.
The Spanish Teacher will collaborate with faculty and administration to support student learning, maintain a positive classroom environment, and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education.
Requirements
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- California teaching credential preferred.
- Experience teaching Spanish to elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
- Knowledge of effective foreign language instructional strategies and curriculum development.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for students in grades 4–8.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to assess student progress and maintain appropriate academic records.
- Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.
- Successful completion of Archdiocese of Los Angeles fingerprinting, VIRTUS training, and Safe Environment requirements prior to employment.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
