Description
Immaculate Heart of Mary School is a TK-8 Catholic elementary school in East Hollywood. We are seeking a part-time music teacher to oversee the music program at our school. This role, under the supervision of the principal, involves planning, delivering, and assessing music instruction for students in grades TK-8, including vocal, music theory, and instrumental instruction.
General Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains school-wide standards of student behavior to ensure an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Direct the school choir for weekly school Masses and accompany singers on one or more instruments including piano or guitar
- Develop and deliver a curriculum that adheres to Common Core and Archdiocesan standards, teaching literacy in music notation, to coach performance of vocal and instrumental music, and to nurture creativity through composing and improvising at the developmental level appropriate for each grade level
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary lessons and promote cross-curricular connections.
- Regularly communicates with parents regarding the progress of individual students through frequent publishing of grades and responding to emails within 1 business day of receipt
- Meeting the deadlines and submission of all materials not limited to course syllabus, lesson plans, progress reports, and final grades
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal

Requirements
Educational Background:
- BA required
- California teaching credential and/or Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and liturgical music is preferred.
Experience: Previous instructional experience is preferred but not required.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
