What is Gabe’s Place? Gabe’s Place is a summer day camp for boys and girls in 1-5th graders from June 16 – July 13, 2025 . Gabe’s Place is located on the campus of the San Gabriel Mission High School at 254 S. Santa Anita St. San Gabriel.
Why Gabe’s Place? Gabe’s Place is a youth and young adult leadership development program for the parish and school communities of San Gabriel starting with training and preparations June 1, 2025 or before based on availability. Through the operations of a summer day camp, camp counselors, activity directors, and camp directors develop executive, administrative, and facilitation skills. This program is also meant to cultivate the relationships with SGMHS and the parish, elementary school, and other partner schools by offering an affordable summer enrichment program for school age children. Enhance your leadership skills and build your resume this summer!
How is the young adult intern involved? Learn about servant leadership in an intentional community of collaborators. This internship will provide a mix of opportunities for learning and gaining job experience especially through the administrative aspects of summer camp programming which includes but is not limited to supervising/managing volunteer staff, program design and implementation, parent/family communication, and oversee the overall health, safety, and recreation of 40-60 school age children. This internship will begin with planning and training meetings June 1, 2025 and will end with a debrief/evaluative meeting in early August and is approximately 40 hours per week. Young adult interns report to the program coordinator.
Requirements
Qualification:
- Available for the team training and planning dates starting June 1, 2025 or based on availability due to college.
- Available the full length of the camp June 16 – July 13; 8:00am – 5:30pm including the field trips.
- Some college experience.
- Good communication skills
- Academic or work experience in ministry, teaching, social work, psychology, child development or related field a plus
- Previous Gabe’s Place experience a plus
- Parishioner and Alumni of San Gabriel Mission is a plus but not necessary and familiarity with the Catholic tradition is preferred
- Camp experience is a plus but not necessary
- Once hired, directors must be Virtus Trained, Fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and First Aid/CPR certified.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
