Description

Notre Dame Academy is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for grades 6–8 for the 2026–2027 school year.

Science at NDA is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, with FOSS (Full Option Science System) serving as a foundational curriculum. At the same time, we recognize that no program is one-size-fits-all, and we are looking for a teacher who can thoughtfully adapt and refine instruction to meet the needs of our students.

This role emphasizes:

  • conceptual understanding over coverage
  • purposeful, well-structured lab investigations
  • developing students’ ability to think like scientists
  • Students engage in science through investigation, analysis, and application—not just participation. The goal is to build curiosity, confidence, and a strong foundation in scientific thinking.

Strong candidates will:

  • Use hands-on labs and investigations as a vehicle for learning, not just engagement
  • Help students analyze, question, and make sense of scientific concepts
  • Connect learning to real-world applications and relevance
  • Maintain strong classroom systems that support productive, active learning environments
  • Manage materials and lab structures efficiently and effectively
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including math and innovation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred
  • Teaching credential (or working toward one)
  • Experience with hands-on, lab-based science instruction
  • Familiarity with FOSS or similar experiential science programs preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance planning with in-the-moment instructional decision-making
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort integrating technology into instruction
  • Willingness to reflect, adapt, and grow professionally

Benefits

  • Notre Dame Academy values its educators and provides strong leadership support, meaningful professional development, and opportunities for growth within the school community.

  • Salary range: $62,700 – $97,900 depending on experience
