Description
St. Brendan School, a K-8 Catholic elementary school in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, seeks a motivated individual to join our collaborative faculty team as a middle school science teacher. The position is seeking someone with experience working with children who is confident and creative. Working knowledge of classroom technology is a must. A practicing Catholic candidate is preferred.
Science instruction at St. Brendan School is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of scientific concepts. While we value strong curricular resources, we recognize that no single program meets the needs of every learner. We seek a teacher who can thoughtfully adapt instruction and create meaningful learning experiences that engage students at all levels.
Requirements
This position emphasizes:
- Developing conceptual understanding rather than simply covering content
- Designing purposeful, well-structured laboratory investigations and experiments
- Cultivating students’ ability to think critically and solve problems like scientists
- Encouraging inquiry, analysis, and real-world application of scientific concepts

- Guide students in analyzing data, asking thoughtful questions, and drawing evidence-based conclusions

- Manage materials, equipment, and lab procedures efficiently and safely
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student learning

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
