St. Thomas Aquinas School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 7th Grade Homeroom and Middle School Math Teacher to join our vibrant Catholic school community. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about mathematics instruction, committed to academic excellence, and dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth of every student. The ideal candidate will provide engaging, standards-based math instruction while fostering a classroom environment rooted in faith, respect, and high expectations.
Responsibilities
- Teach Middle School Mathematics to students in Grades 6–8 using engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Serve as the 7th Grade Homeroom Teacher, fostering a supportive and positive classroom community.
- Plan, prepare, and implement effective lessons that support student learning and academic achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress regularly with families.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, perseverance, and a growth mindset in mathematics.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student success.
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into daily lessons to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, school events, liturgical celebrations, and required professional development opportunities.
- Support extracurricular activities and school programs as needed.
- Uphold the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church while serving as a positive Christian role model for students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid California Teaching Credential or ability to obtain appropriate certification.
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
