Description

Westside Catholic School seeks a skilled, energetic Middle School Literature/English/History/Religion teacher to join our 6–8 humanities team. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of language arts and history, strong classroom management, high expectations paired with supportive instruction, and a collaborative, growth-oriented approach to professional learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in English (writing, grammar, reading) and history for grades 6–8.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and maintain high academic expectations.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate student progress; maintain timely and accurate records.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians.
  • Participate actively in the faculty professional learning community and contribute to curriculum development and school improvement efforts.
  • Support and lead co-curricular activities and school events as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree and valid teaching credential.
  • Prior middle school teaching experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency with educational technology, including word processing and presentation tools.
  • Strong classroom management skills, effective communication, and a growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching both writing/grammar and middle school history.
  • Familiarity with Catholic school values and mission (preferred but not required).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
