Description
Notre Dame Academy Elementary School, a TK-8th grade co-ed school located in West L.A., is seeking an experienced, innovative, and passionate 6th-8th grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate should have a passion for teaching, possess a strong understanding of curriculum content and teaching pedagogy as well as developmental stages of elementary age students.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a comprehensive and differentiated curriculum that is data-based and aligned with California state standards. Knowledge of Understanding by Design unit planning is a plus!
- Foster a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes the development of social-emotional skills, Habits of Mind, and critical thinking.
- Utilize centers, projects, and hands-on learning to provide age-appropriate and interactive learning experiences.
- Track and analyze student progress using a variety of assessment tools and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents to ensure continuity of learning and a collaborative professional culture.
- Collaborate with the middle school team.
Work with a diverse population of students with a culturally competent teaching lens.

Requirements
Requirements:
1. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably with middle school age children
2. Teaching Credential
3. Experience with differentiation and intervention
4. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
6. Ability to be a learner, put in time to plan and collaborate after school
7. Ability to take on an adjunct duty
8. Technology skills and ability to integrate technology into the instructional experiences
Preferred:
1. Masters degree
2. Training and Experience in Thinking Maps, Curriculum Mapping, and Understanding by Design, and Core Instructional Practices (CIP).
3. Active Catholic

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
