Description
Good Shepherd Catholic School is seeking a full time junior high math/science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
Our science program focusses on Earth, Life, and Physical Science. The curriculum is rooted in traditional elements, experimental learning, and the integration of technology.
We have a rigorous comprehensive math program utilizing an incremental, spiral approach. Skills are introduced and revisited regularly. Frequent assessments support understanding, mastery and retention. Our math teacher will engage our students and prepare them for rigorous high school courses.
The candidates will:
- Use hands-on labs and investigations for both engagement and learning
- Teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry
- Create and deliver rigorous, science and math lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Introduce inquiry-based and hands-on instructional strategies to promote student understanding, critical thinking, and mastery
- Help students analyze, question, and make sense of scientific and mathematical concepts
- Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including math and science innovation
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively support science-related field trips, including preparation and follow-up activities
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
- Integrate faith and values into instruction in alignment with the school’s mission
- The teacher will be expected to design curriculum maps and engaging lessons that incorporate differentiated instructional strategies for all learners.
- Technology skills and ability to work with SmartBoard, Epson Projector, DocuCam, ipads/tablets, and websites to create and integrate curriculum into everyday lessons is a must.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree and/or CA Teaching Credential
- 3 years full-time teaching experience – preferably in middle/junior high level
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across grade levels
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered learning environment

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
