St. Monica Catholic Elementary School (SMCES), part of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, is accepting applications for an instructional aide for both 1st grade and for 2nd grade. The instructional aide would also serve as a student playground supervisor. These 2 distinct jobs, 1st and 2nd grade, are full-time positions that will fulfill your desire to nurture students’ growth and development.
The qualified applicant will:

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
Work with students with varying learning needs.
Build collaboration with teachers and administrators through effective, timely, and pertinent communication.
Advocate for students’ needs to teachers and administrators.
Contribute to the school and classroom community by accomplishing tasks as required.
Communicate with teachers and administrators.
Supervise students at recess and lunch (requires standing, walking, mobility)
The approximate allocation of responsibilities and duties is 30% student playground supervision and 70% in
class instructional aide.
Job Skills and Qualifications
A commitment to learn and implement the principles of dignity and equity throughout the school.
Demonstrated proficiency in communication – verbal, listening, & written.
Ability to guide students in problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, & engage in timely and appropriate information sharing with teachers
Possess the characteristics of Catholic school professionalism.
Remain flexible, dependable, and dedicated to Catholic education.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to support the mission and vision of SMCES.
Willingness to learn common educational technology.
The minimum requirements are:
Experience working with primary age children.
Minimum requirements are a HS diploma.
Preferred requirements are an AA degree in Child Development or a related field.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with a BA degree in a discipline of education.
