Description
The Head Track and Field Coach is responsible for leading and managing the entire high school track and field program. This includes overseeing all athletes, assistant coaches, practices, meets, and program operations. The coach will promote skill development, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while fostering academic and personal growth among student-athletes.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct all phases of the track and field program (preseason, in-season, and postseason).
- Develop and implement training programs for all events, including sprints, distance, relays, jumps, throws, and hurdles.
- Recruit, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches and event-specific staff.
- Establish clear expectations, goals, and standards for the program in alignment with school and district values.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all athletes.
- Organize and supervise daily practices and meet-day logistics.
- Teach and demonstrate proper techniques, conditioning, and injury prevention.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administration regarding schedules, performance, and expectations.
- Manage program budget, inventory, and maintenance of track and field equipment and facilities.
- Represent the school in a professional and sportsmanlike manner at all practices, meets, and events.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and athletic association policies and regulations.
- Promote community involvement and encourage student participation in track and field.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
