THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We seek a qualified mission-aligned Computer Science/Robotics/Innovation teacher eager to join a thriving Jesuit learning community. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a commitment to pedagogically distinguished instruction and effective communication and collaboration, with a professional desire for continuous improvement and innovation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver rigorous, engaging, and differentiated instruction for 5 sections in a college-preparatory environment, utilizing best practices in pedagogy and technology to accelerate and deepen student learning.
  • Design and utilize formative and summative assessments, providing timely constructive feedback oriented towards student growth and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate as an integral member of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to plan, evaluate programs, and collaborate on enhancing professional practice.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of respect and a functional learning environment that supports the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis (care for the whole person), valuing and treating students with empathy.
  • Support the schools’ Jesuit, Catholic formational mission by assisting with retreats, school-wide liturgies, and community service programs.
  • Actively engage beyond the classroom by moderating co-curricular activities and/or clubs.
  • Fulfill assigned administrative duties, including exam proctoring, classroom substitutions, yard supervision, and prefecting at athletic or student events.

Primary Teaching Assignment: 5 sections in Computer Programming, Robotics, Freshmen Innovation Electives.

Secondary Capacity: Ability to teach General Math or other advanced math topics including Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus if needed is required to provide maximum scheduling flexibility, though the core assignment is Computer Science/Robotics/Innovation.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications (Required): Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired): A CA teaching credential or completion of a teacher preparation program. Experience teaching in a high school setting. Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or closely related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A strong commitment to advancing Loyola’s mission and a deep appreciation for the School’s history, achievements, and aspirations.
  • Demonstrate subject-matter expertise and a deep understanding of assessment and evaluation techniques to support student learning.
  • Possess effective instructional and classroom management skills in order to maintain a functional learning environment.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to succeed at college-preparatory levels.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and cultivate effective professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents in support of student success.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity with diverse groups across lines of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender, and other identifiers.
  • Ability to use critical-thinking skills to solve complex problems, with a willingness to challenge assumptions and explore new approaches to student learning.
  • Proficiency with technology, including the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PPT, and Outlook), learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
