Description
Position Summary:
As the primary receptionist/greeter for the parish, this person must possess a positive and welcoming disposition and greet everyone with kindness, competence, and grace. This role serves as the initial point of contact for baptisms and funerals and provides general office support. This is a 28-hour-per-week part-time position.
- Answer telephones and take messages, check e-mails daily, greet visitors, and notify the appropriate person.
- Receive and distribute parish mail, email, packages, and bulletins
- Follow the emergency call procedure to route emergency calls to the appropriate staff
- Organize and maintain an orderly appearance of the reception work area
- Make updates to parish database – add new parishioners
- Prepare and distribute parish communications related to new parishioners
- Update calendar to reserve rooms for deacons and pastoral appointments
- Record Mass intentions, and communicate prayer requests
- Accept payment for registrations, parish events and maintain payment logs
- Place periodic orders as needed: Mass card, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day.
- Performs other routine clerical duties as requested such as typing lists, envelopes, filing, folding and stuffing envelopes, etc.
Requirements
- Limited typing (25wpm) sufficient to type envelopes, forms, labels and short correspondence.
- Effective oral and written English communication skills sufficient to answer telephones, take messages, follow instructions, and file or locate documents.
- Manual skills to assemble materials, stuff envelopes, file, operate copy machine and computer for data entry.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
- Performs tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands and arms.
- Active member of a Roman Catholic Faith Community.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
