Description
Fifth Grade Long-Term Substitute (with possibility of permanent position)
St. Charles Borromeo Parish School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to serve as a Fifth Grade Homeroom Teacher for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year (with possibility of permanent position). The ideal candidate will be committed to partnering with parents — the primary educators of their children — to nurture the whole child in faith, knowledge, and character within the traditions of Catholic education. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, the teacher will model compassion, integrity, and service while fostering a safe and welcoming classroom where each student is respected as a unique creation made in the image and likeness of God.
The teacher will be responsible for guiding fourth grade students in mastering all curriculum standards by designing engaging lessons and curriculum maps that incorporate differentiated instructional strategies to support diverse learners. The position requires strong classroom management, effective supervision of students both in and out of the classroom, and the ability to establish clear procedures that promote a positive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to school schedule changes, special events, and celebrations that are part of a vibrant Catholic school community. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are essential, as the teacher will work closely with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student success and build a strong sense of community.
Candidates should also possess strong technology skills and be comfortable integrating digital tools, including iPads and educational websites, into daily instruction to enhance student learning. Above all, the teacher will be committed to forming students who grow in faith, curiosity, and love, prepared to live out the Gospel in their daily lives.
Requirements
The Candidate should have a B.A., teaching experience, and be working towards or have completed a California teaching credential or out of state equivalent. Please submit a resume, a cover letter, and three references from past employers, preferably school administrators.
