Description
Faith Formation
- Designs and oversees curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 8.
- Coordinates Homeschool Faith Formation program.
- Selects and orders faith formation materials, reviews current curriculum, and adoption of new curriculum when necessary, in conjunction with Parish Elementary School.
- Plans programs, events, and prepares resources that help parents in their role as primary catechists.
- Working with the Faith Formation Secretary, maintains accurate records of students and families.
Catechist Training
- Monitors sufficient number of catechists and other volunteers for Faith Formation classes.
- Plans sessions and creates resources for faith formation catechists.
- Maintains regular communication with catechists/volunteers.
Sacrament Preparation
- Coordinates specifics for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (all parish children)
- Plans parent meetings prior to sacraments.
Vacation Bible School
- Organizes program (determines dates, theme, volunteer training sessions)
- Recruits volunteers
- Publicizes Vacation Bible School
Requirements
- Baptized member in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church and active in the parish faith community.
- Well-developed knowledge of Catholic sacraments and requirements for reception of sacraments.
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experienced in teaching the faith to adults, youth and children.
- Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Ability to work well with others, to prioritize multiple demands, work well under pressure, and maintain confidentiality.
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week
- Parish meetings, activities, and events as requested
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
