Description
Note: This position is full time (40 hours per week). Deadline for applications is July 8, 2026
St. Denis Church is seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to serve as the Director of Teen Confirmation and Youth Ministry (TC&YM). In addition to preparing our teens to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, this leader will guide our teens (and their parents) to: (1) develop a close, personal relationship and friendship with Jesus; (2) dedicate their life to him; and (3) become a missionary disciple of Jesus Christ. Typically, St. Denis has about 50-60 teens enrolled in Confirmation Year 1 and 50-60 teens enrolled in Confirmation Year 2.
- Program Leadership: Working with St. Denis’s Anointed for Mission (AFM) Leadership Team and the AFM Leadership Team of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Director will develop and oversee a comprehensive TC&YM Program that leads teens (and their parents) through the thresholds of conversion from initial trust to spiritual curiosity, spiritual openness, spiritual seeking, and intentional discipleship. This will include spiritual formation, catechesis, retreat experiences, and service opportunities. Responsibility for faith formation for the parents will be shared with St. Denis’s Director of Adult Faith Formation.
- Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual guidance and support to teens and their families throughout the formation process.
- Recruiting: Recruit parish volunteers to serve as catechists, accompaniers for teens and their parents, hospitality ministers, prayer warriors, and workers for TC&YM.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the pastor, other clergy, parish staff, volunteers, parish ministry leaders, and parish ministries to coordinate TC&YM logistics, liturgies, and related parish activities.
- Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents, guardians, Confirmation sponsors, and the entire parish regarding TC&YM Program details, expectations, and updates.
- Community Building & Engagement: Create an inclusive and welcoming environment where youth will feel connected to their faith and the parish community. Foster a sense of community among teens through regular meetings, social events, service opportunities, and outreach.
- Event Planning: Organize and oversee youth events, retreats, service projects, and special activities throughout the year.
- Pastoral Support for Teens who have been Confirmed: Provide mentorship, guidance, and pastoral care to lead them to become missionary disciples of Jesus Christ and to assist with the TC&YM Program and other parish ministries.
- Administration: Manage the TC&YM budget, maintain records, and ensure compliance with parish policies and procedures.
