Job Summary:

Saint Monica Preparatory seeks a passionate, experienced educator to serve as Director of Middle School (MS), grades 6 through 8. The Director of MS is the primary advocate for staff, students, and parents in the MS division and is responsible for all academic and non-academic student-related matters. This position will work collaboratively with and in full partnership with the Lower School Principal, the Lower School Distributed Leadership Team, and the Upper School administration team to design, implement, evaluate, and modify the unique MS student experience.

Director of Middle School – General Responsibilities:

  • Oversees MS student life, student services, and on-campus activities.
  • Establishes concrete goals for student achievement, attendance, and behavior and develops procedures and routines to implement and monitor the goals.
  • Provides proactive leadership, communication, and structure to ensure MS growth and development in both programs and culture,
  • Is a member of the Lower School Distributed Leadership team to help direct curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Is a liaison between departments and administrators in MS and Upper School (9th-12th grades) and Primary Grades (TK-5th); and a liaison with Core Prep, our middle school athletic training program.
  • Establishes and fosters clear lines of communication for MS issues to all shareholders.
  • Manages and supervises MS scheduling and staffing.

Essential Responsibilities:
Mission and Leadership

  • Embrace the mission, vision, philosophy, and culture of the school while demonstrating alignment with the school’s core purpose, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrate visible, active leadership in the daily life of the school, including the routines of arrival, dismissal, lunch, and break times as well as at major school functions and events, including those that occur beyond the school day.

School Community

  • Develop and implement inclusive processes to develop the MS curriculum centered around the core values of the school which incorporates academic learning, spiritual formation, social-emotional learning, and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Provide strategic direction, implementation, and communication about all facets of MS student life, while making informed decisions based on community input.

Working with Staff

  • Serve MS staff by monitoring all activities and providing important feedback
  • Leading new student onboarding and planning MS student events and programming throughout the school year.

Working with Students

  • Identify priorities and needed resources to support the academic, social, emotional, and mental health of MS students.
  • Coordinate with the student support team to address student needs and offer leadership when considering the intersection of academic, behavioral, social, and emotional supports.

Requirements

Qualification Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field required. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • A California Clear Credential (or other state) for Teaching and/or Administration
  • Must possess a minimum of five years of experience as a teacher leader or administrative role.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of adolescent development.
  • Proven success working collaboratively in education.

Salary Range : $66,030 – $103,913

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
