This is an incredible opportunity to mentor young athletes, coach competition teams, and showcase your dance expertise at an advanced competitive level.

The primary role of a high school dance team coach is to be present and lead all practices and performances throughout the year. During the summer, practice is held on campus Monday through Thursday in the afternoon, and during the school year, practice follows the school day on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 5:45 pm. These practices include technique classes, strength and conditioning, cleaning competition routines, and preparation for other performance opportunities.

The dance team coach will also be available on Fridays in the months of September through November for home football games and Saturdays in the months of January through April for team competitions in the surrounding Southern California area.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and safety.
  • Choreograph and prepare dynamic routines for pep rallies, football games, dance concerts, and competitions.

  • Ensure adherence to school and athletic safety protocols.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for student-athletes by maintaining professional behavior.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Prior dance experience in coaching or teaching jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, and musical theatre (high school level preferred).
  • Knowledge of choreography, technique, tricks, and dance safety guidelines.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills towards high school students and their parents.
  • Passion for working with high school students and encouraging their growth in the dance competition world as well as personally for their future.

Please send a resume and cover letter expressing interest to teach@bishohpamat.org.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
