Description

A School Bus Driver interacts daily with children and serves as their trusted transportation to and from school. As such, a School Bus Driver should be free of any traffic or legal violations and should have an authoritative, yet calming demeanor and a strong understanding of traffic laws. In your job description, it is important to list the responsibilities and duties of the School Bus Driver position, which may include the following:

Responsibilities (including, but are not limited to, the following):

  • Transporting students safely pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring their safety while boarding and exiting the bus.
  • Maintaining Order: Enforce school bus safety rules and district policies, maintain order and discipline among students on the bus.
  • Obey all traffic Laws
  • Route Management- Following the route schedule and adhering to traffic laws.
  • Punctuality is a Must

Requirements

Qualifications (minimum requirements):

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Passenger Endorsement
  • SPAB Certification/School Bus Endorsement
  • Displaying a positive attitude
  • Self-directed with proven ability to assume responsibility, work independently, and move work/projects through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Bilingual Skills: Spanish is plus

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
