Description

Chaminade College Preparatory is looking assistant debate coach with a track record of success coaching high school teams and/or competing at the high school or college level.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Head Coach with training and mentoring the students for their respective events
  • The position is part-time
  • 2 to 5 hours during the week and 12 hours or greater per day will be required on tournament days
  • Season is from September to May of each school year
  • Travel will be required for tournaments which includes local, regional and national
  • Serve as chaperone, judge, and on-site coach at our local league tournaments
  • Assist in the development of scripts/speeches for events and provide feedback on student performance
  • Moderate and judge practice debate rounds and provide feedback on argumentation strategies
  • Other miscellaneous Speech & Debate duties as needed for logistical or team-building purposes

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or current college enrollment)
  • Debate Coaching: 2+ years or similar experience
  • Qualifying as a debater to TOC/NSDA Nationals, NDT Nationals, or having a team qualify for one of the national tournaments in the past is a plus.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
