Description

The Assistant Athletic Director plays a key role in supporting the Athletic Director with planning, organization, and oversight of all school athletic programs. This position helps ensure that every sport operates efficiently and in full compliance with Louisville policies as well as CIF‑SS and state athletic regulations.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail oriented, and committed to fostering a positive, mission-aligned athletic experience for all student‑athletes.

Requirements

Program Administration

  • Support the management of all athletic programs and seasonal sports.
  • Support the Athletic Director with department planning and yearly goals for the athletic department.
  • Maintain accurate records and rosters.
  • Ensure fields, gyms, and equipment are prepared for practices and competitions.

Scheduling & Logistics

  • Coordinate practice schedules, game schedules, and facility usage for all sports teams.
  • Arrange transportation for away games.
  • Ensure timely communication of schedule updates to coaches, teaching faculty, athletes, and families.

Event & Game Management

  • Attend and supervise home and away athletic events as required.
  • Oversee game day operations, including officials, scorekeepers, and crowd management.
  • Ensure safety protocols and emergency procedures are followed.

Student Athlete Support

  • Oversee academic eligibility and participation requirements.
  • Help ensure student‑athletes meet school, league, and CIF‑SS expectations.
  • Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and positive team culture.
  • Support student‑athletes pursuing college athletics with communication, guidance, and initiatives that increase college recruiting opportunities.

Coach Support & Communication

  • Support coaches with scheduling, equipment needs, and administrative tasks.
  • Help coordinate coach evaluations, meetings, and professional development.
  • Serve as a communication link between coaches, families, and school administration.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records for rosters, physicals, eligibility, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with CIF-SS, league, and state athletic association rules.

Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Assist with ordering, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Support coaches and athletes by ensuring all necessary equipment is available and ready for use.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach Physical Education classes across the full academic year.
  • Implement curriculum that supports student wellness, and skill development

Social Media & Community Engagement

  • Create and share athletic updates, including scores, highlights, and student‑athlete recognition. Create engaging content that builds school spirit and community involvement.
  • Manage all athletic department social media accounts with consistent and professional branding.
  • Represent the athletic department at school and community events.
  • Help promote school spirit, community engagement, and positive representation of Louisville Athletics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, education, or related field.
  • Coaching or athletic administration experience (2–3+ years).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during athletic seasons.

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
