Description
Position Goal: Responsible for teaching 6th grade English Language Arts and TK-8 reading groups, bringing value to our Catholic school’s program by promoting our school mission and vision REACH stands for Reading Enrichment and CompreHension. The purpose is to work with advanced readers, providing appropriate challenges. Inspire a love for learning through the library program.

Salary Range: $62,000-80,000 (based on qualifications and experience)
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Preferred Masters
- Valid teaching credential
Roles 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher
- Plan and teach 6th grade English Language Arts, ensuring learning
- Implement Core Instructional Practices and differentiate for all learners
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide and inform instruction
- Foster a positive, safe, and welcoming classroom culture, reflecting the moral, physical, emotional, and intellectual development of children
- Develop strong relationships with parents, colleagues, and students
- Communicate regularly through a weekly classroom newsletter and communications (parent/student meetings, emails, etc.)
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly lessons in a timely manner (by 8 a.m. each Monday through PlanBook)
- Maintain up-to-date curriculum guides, accurate attendance, and grading.
- Support and enforce discipline and routines in the classroom
- Perform additional duties as assigned (such as supervision during recess, Mass, and assemblies)
REACH (Reading Enrichment and CompreHension) Teacher
- Provide advanced reading enrichment and support to high-achieving readers in grades TK-8
- Develop appropriate instructional strategies and materials to challenge and grow advanced readers
- Implement reading programs in a manner consistent with the school’s educational philosophy
- Support classroom instruction by assessing reading progress and employing data-informed strategies
- Communicate progress to parents and collaborate with classroom colleagues.
- Be an enthusiastic and passionate reading teacher who instills a love for literature. Perform additional duties related to reading enrichment, as assigned by the administration
Librarian
- Manage, oversee, and maintain the school library and its programs
- Provide for the intellectual, moral, physical, and emotional development of children through literature and media resources
- Develop routines for circulation, cataloging, maintenance, and inventory of books and media
- Orient and instruct students in the use of study skills and independent study facilities.
- Provide reading guidance to classes and individuals, and collaborate with classroom teachers to align materials to classroom curricula.
- Acquire new books and materials; process, catalog, and weed the collection to keep it up-to-date and relevant
- Support classroom instruction by retrieving resources and organizing routines for their use
- Supervise and schedule adult volunteers in the library
- Maintain discipline and routines that foster a respectful and purposeful atmosphere in the library
- Perform additional duties related to the library, as assigned by the administration
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous teaching in a Catholic elementary school is highly preferred
- Supervise a classroom academic and program development and facilitate implementation
- Foster a positive and safe classroom culture, focused on student learning
- Make data-driven decisions
- All employment is contingent upon clearing a criminal background check and participating in Safe Environment training

Professional Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in conformity with the Holy Family Philosophy, Mission, and state and federal regulations related to education, employment, and health and safety
- Maintain a professional, cooperative, and respectful relationship with all members of the Holy Family community
- Be present and available for all assigned duties from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year
- Take the initiative in calling or setting up appointments with parents when needed
- Return phone messages, emails, and other correspondence within 48 hours
- Be well prepared for class and submit plans to the administration
- Keep classroom and library spaces clean, organized, and well cared for
- Perform additional duties related to curriculum, co-curricular programs, safety, discipline, and other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
- Ability to respond appropriately in a crisis or emergency
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to classroom and library routines (such as shelving books)
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
