Position Overview

  • Notre Dame Academy is seeking a 6th–8th Religion Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Religion at NDA is both an academic subject and a formative experience. Students explore Catholic teachings, scripture, and moral reasoning while also developing habits of reflection, empathy, and service.
  • The middle school religion program includes classroom instruction as well as opportunities for retreats, prayer, and student leadership experiences that help students connect faith with daily life.
  • We are looking for an educator who can teach Catholic theology thoughtfully while creating space for meaningful discussion, reflection, and spiritual growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive religion curriculum aligned with Archdiocesan standards
  • Guide students in exploring scripture, Catholic teachings, and moral decision-making
  • Foster thoughtful discussion and reflection on faith, ethics, and service
  • Plan and facilitate middle school retreats and faith formation experiences
  • Support the development of student leadership opportunities connected to faith and service
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes respect, reflection, and community
  • Track and analyze student progress using a variety of assessment tools
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families
  • Collaborate with the middle school team and contribute to the broader school community

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred
  • Teaching credential
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic theology and Church teachings
  • Must be an active Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Experience facilitating meaningful classroom discussions with middle school students
  • Strong classroom management and relational teaching skills
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Comfort integrating technology into instruction
  • Willingness to reflect, adapt, and grow professionally
  • Preferred qualifications include experience planning retreats, campus ministry programming, or student leadership initiatives.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
