Description

Saint Mary School, located in the Antelope Valley, is seeking a faith-filled, dynamic, and dedicated 4th Grade Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming school year. Rooted in a long tradition of Catholic education, our school is committed to fostering the intellectual, spiritual, and moral development of every student in a learning environment grounded in Gospel values.

The classroom teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by modeling Catholic values and Christian living both inside and outside of the classroom. The teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a standards-based instructional program across core subject areas, including religion, while maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment.

The ideal candidate is a hardworking educator who demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence, strong classroom management, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues. The teacher reports directly to the principal and actively participates in the faith life and community of the school.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Instruction

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction across all core subject areas, including religion
  • Assume responsibility for the academic progress of all students
  • Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials
  • Integrate technology (iPads, Google Classroom, etc.) effectively into instruction

Classroom Management

  • Create and sustain a disciplined classroom culture with high academic and behavioral expectations
  • Establish clear routines and procedures aligned with school-wide expectations
  • Maintain a structured and positive learning environment

Data & Assessment

  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records

Student Support & School Culture

  • Foster a positive, faith-filled classroom environment rooted in Gospel values
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer, and faith-based activities

*The selected candidate must successfully complete all required background checks, Safe Environment training, and Archdiocesan certifications.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Previous teaching experience preferred

Credentials & Certifications:

  • CA Teaching Credential (preferred)
  • CBEST (preferred)
  • Catechetical Certification from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (or willingness to obtain)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Practicing Catholic with a commitment to Catholic education and Church teachings
  • Ability to lead daily prayer and participate in school liturgies
  • Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, especially in language arts and mathematics
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology, including iPads, into instruction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
