Description
Good Shepherd Catholic School prepares our students to be academically strong and spiritually grounded. We are seeking a full time, faith filled, enthusiastic Second Grade teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a self-contained class. The candidate will work collaboratively and communicate effectively with faculty and administration, as well as with parents and students.
The ideal candidate will teach all core subjects, provide a foundation for strong reading fluency and comprehension, scaffolding in the areas of core writing, and math mastery. Good Shepherd utilizes Superkids and Saxon Math.
Training will be provided, if needed.
Requirements
- Prepare engaging daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Assess and monitor student progress; maintain accurate records
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Communicate effectively with parents, administration, and colleagues.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
- Serve as a positive role model of the Catholic faith and uphold the mission of the school.
- Take an active role in the spiritual and community life of the school.
- Technology skills and ability to work with SmartBoard, Epson Projector, DocuCam, ipads/tablets, and websites to create and integrate curriculum into everyday lessons is a must
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith formation activities
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Archdiocese, including professional conduct standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree and/or CA Teaching Credential
- 3 years full-time teaching experience – preferably in elementary instruction
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across grade levels
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered learning environment
- Perform other duties and administrative tasks per school protocol and/or administration’s request.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
