About Our School
St. Anthony School is a welcoming Catholic community that serves children from Preschool through 8th grade. We are committed to work in partnership – both as parish and school – to help form and nourish the whole child through spiritual growth, knowledge, and service to others. Our community is rooted in tradition and is composed of many families with deep roots in the life and service of both the parish and school.
Position Summary
The 2nd grade teacher is responsible for providing an engaging, faith-based learning environment that supports the spiritual and academic development of each student. He/She will plan and implement instruction aligned with archdiocesan and state standards, integrate Catholic values throughout the curriculum, and collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to further the development and success of all students. This teacher’s responsibilities are also centered around fostering children’s faith and sacramental life through preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
Responsibilities
- Foster a positive, faith-centered classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Archdiocesan and school standards
- Incorporate Catholic teachings and Gospel values into daily instruction and classroom culture
- Supervise students during recess, lunch and other assigned duties
- Prepare school students for sacramental life through their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in accordance with archdiocesan guidelines and in collaboration with the parish Office of Faith Foundations
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents to support spiritual and academic formation
- Collaborate with faculty and administration in schoolwide programs, events, professional learning communities, and school liturgies.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- California Teaching Credential (or progress in this area) preferred
- Catechetical certification (or willingness to obtain through the Archdiocese)
- Experience working with elementary students, especially early primary grades
- Practicing Catholic strongly preferred
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Catholic education
- Strong communication, classroom management, and instructional skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in sacramental preparation or religious education
- Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
