Deacon Retreat Cancellation Policy

The Office of Deacons works toward securing the best possible retreat dates and locations for our growing deacon community.  As a result, we use hotel facilities to meet our large retreat demand since using only retreat centers cannot provide enough dates and rooms to meet our needs. Both hotel and retreat facilities require the Office of Deacons to pay advance fees and progress payments to guarantee each room.

If a deacon/deacon couple wishes to cancel their reservation within 60 days of the retreat date, they must contact the Office of Deacons by e-mail informing the office of the cancellation.

The Office of Deacons has established this cancellation policy based upon when a cancellation notification is received. The Office of Deacons will make every effort to assist in filling the vacancy created, however, if the vacancy cannot be filled, then the following charges will apply to the deacon’s parish:

60 days + prior to the start of the retreat                                          50%      Refund

30 – 59 days prior to the start of the retreat                                    25%      Refund

30 days or less prior to the start of the retreat                                0%       Refund

Please note that a deacon retreat event is much different than cancelling a hotel reservation or another travel destination. The hotels and retreat houses that we use are set up with a three (3) year group rate contract and different cancellation penalties are in effect.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope that all deacons/deacon couples will be able to enjoy a retreat with our diaconate community, as we all grow in holiness to better serve the People of God.
