“The student and teacher recipients of the Archdiocesan High School Christian Service Award make the Catholic faith come alive in Southern California. We are grateful for them answering Jesus’ call to serve our neighbor as expressed in the gospel of Matthew 5:16: ‘Let your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.’” said Erick Rubalcava, Chief of Mission and Catholic Identity for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

This year, the upcoming graduating high school students of the Archdiocese dedicated more than 36,000 hours in diverse Christian service throughout Los Angeles with organizations such as The El Dorado Nature Center, Youth 4 Change at Cedar Sinai, Kaiser Hospital (Sunset), Castro Limon Foundation (Tijuana, Mexico), and the Ronald McDonald House to name a few. Christian service experiences are inspired by the Gospel message and linked directly to Catholic Social Teaching which is embodied in the philosophy of all Catholic Schools.
