Notification of Blackbaud Security Incident

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles was recently notified by Blackbaud, Inc., our third-party database host, with information about a data security breach that may have included some of your contact information.  The Archdiocese has a contractual relationship with Blackbaud, which is one of the leading providers of fundraising software for non-profit organizations.  Please know we take the protection of your information very seriously, and because of that, we are contacting you as a precautionary measure to share what we know about the incident.

Unfortunately, we are living in a time when cyberattacks such as this have become too commonplace.  The cybercriminals involved in the incident did not obtain any credit card information, bank accounts, or social security numbers.  Some of the data involved may have included names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and birth dates.  We have no reason to believe your data was misused or made available publicly.  Blackbaud has reportedly paid the ransom in exchange to have the hijacked data destroyed. This notice is for your information and you do not need to take any further action. We will continue working closely with Blackbaud to monitor this situation.

Thank you for your ongoing generosity, especially during this uncertain time.  The impact of your gifts are significant in light of the needs created by the COVID-19 crisis.  Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have additional questions; we can be reached at (213) 637-7341 or advancementservices@la-archdiocese.org.
