HVN Development has applied to build a 73-apartment affordable-housing project at 1945 S. Carmona Avenue in Mid-City. The proposal would replace a single-family home and a church with a five-story building, according to reporting on the application.
The Urbanize LA report describes the proposal as 100 percent affordable, with 73 one-bedroom apartments and a required manager’s unit. The existing home and church would be demolished to clear the site.
The project is eligible for density-bonus incentives, which allow developers to exceed zoning limits in exchange for reserving units for lower-income tenants. The application proposes a five-story building on the Mid-City site.
