Father Jerick Alenton
Read the Angelus News article about our new LA priest, Jerick Alenton.
“It’s basically bringing people closer to God and I can’t do that if I’m not close to God himself. I hope that I remain faithful to God and hopefully become a good priest from that faithfulness to him.”
– Fr. Jerick Alenton
Age: 29
Hometown: Cebu City, Philippines
Home parish: St. Clare of Assisi Church, Santa Clarita
Parish assignment: St. Cornelius Church, Long Beach
First Mass: Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 11am – St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church Santa Clarita, CA
Both of Jerick Alenton’s parents worked abroad (his mother in the United States and his father in Dubai), so he was raised in the Philippines largely by his grandmother and uncle. He grew up shaped by his grandmother’s faith and devotion and playing Mass with the kids in his neighborhood. At age 9, his mother petitioned to bring him with her to Santa Clarita — there he attended school and vocation and discernment retreats, eventually applying to seminary and getting accepted on prom night. Follow his journey to the priesthood and how he was “destined” to be a priest.
Thank you for your prayers and support for vocations in our Archdiocese.
