Community invited to pray for peace in Mexico as relics of the six Mexican Martyrs visit Los Angeles

In a spirit of faith and solidarity, Our Lady of the Rosary of Talpa Catholic Church will host a week of prayer for peace in Mexico from February 24–28, 2026, featuring the public veneration of the relics of the six Mexican martyrs who gave their lives for the Catholic faith. The parish is inviting the faithful to gather in solidarity during a time when ongoing violence continues to impact families and communities throughout Mexico.

The relics on display include those of St. Miguel de la Mora de la Mora, St. José María Robles Hurtado, St. Mateo Correa Magallanes, St. Luis Batis Sáinz, St. Rodrigo Aguilar Alemán, and St. Pedro de Jesús Maldonado Lucero — priests canonized by Pope St. John Paul II on May 21, 2000 -who where members of the Knights of Columbus and who were killed during the government’s persecution of the faithful during the Mexican Cristero War in the 1920’s. Their witness of faith continues to resonate with Catholics in Mexico and the United States.

Throughout the week, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for prayer, and Masses will be offered for peace.
