A first-class relic of Saint Carlo Acutis is being brought from the Diocese of Assisi, Italy, to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, California this week, to give prisoners at a downtown jail and diocesan parishioners the opportunity for veneration.
The relic is a pericardium heart relic from the first Millennial saint, according to an emailed Oct. 19 press release from St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The church is set to mark the start of the relic’s three-day visit with a special Mass and procession Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. local time. After the procession, it will be available for veneration until 10 p.m.
“This is a unique opportunity to honor the life and holiness of a young saint who embraced the Eucharist and modern technology as paths to God,” the release states.
