Christians across Los Angeles County celebrated Maundy Thursday and many will attend church on Good Friday, April 18, to honor the day when Jesus died on the cross. Easter Sunday, the most holy day in Christianity, will mark the day when Jesus rose from the dead, according to Christian tradition.
Among the many churches who held services on a cloudy and cool evening on April 17, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper was celebrated by Rev. Jose Magaña at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood. He was joined by retired Cardinal Roger Mahony. During the service, the feet of 12 people were washed, a tradition for the service known as Maundy Thursday.
