Devotees of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are holding a fiesta to raise money for the annual pilgrimage, procession, and Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast day in December.
The oldest religious procession in Los Angeles, Our Lady of Guadalupe’s procession was started in 1931 by Mexican Catholic refugees who had fled their country due to the Cristero War. A pilgrimage with images of Our Lady and St. Juan Diego, which begins October 29, 2024, precedes the procession.
The fiesta, called “Gran Tardeada Guadalupana,” takes place from 2 to 8 p.m. August 24 at St. Marcellinus Church, in Commerce, California. A $25 donation covers family entertainment and food.
