Logic of God

(Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we witness in the Gospel the ultimate example of what it means to not only listen for the voice of God but to do as the Lord asks with full trust. Mary’s fiat, her “yes” to the message delivered by the Angel Gabriel, shows us the stark contrast between the logic of the world and the logic of God. When we commit to opening ourselves up to the voice of the Spirit, we commit to a way of living, a way of being that may confound our friends and family. The Gospel is at once beautiful and challenging, radical and transformative. It is not for the faint of heart, but, if we listen prayerfully and act faithfully, God will walk with us, just as he walked with Mary.
