CADEIO stands for Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers, and was established to: 1) stimulate the exchange of ideas, experiences, and networking among the Arch/diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers; 2) to promote programs that further the work of Christian Unity and Interreligious cooperation; and 3) cooperate with the Bishop’s Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the USCCB and with other ecumenical and interreligious agencies.
Although initially intended to serve arch/diocesan ecumenical officers, today membership in CADEIO is open to anyone interested in ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.
The CADEIO Institutes for Ecumenical and Interreligious Leadership have been the keystone of CADEIO’s mission and ministry for over 40 years. Originally intended as a source of continuing formation for arch/diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers, they have become valuable resources for anyone who wishes to know more about the Church’s teaching regarding ecumenical and interreligious dialogue and prayer. These leadership Institutes are offered annually, alternating between ecumenical and interreligious programs, and there is an advanced program as well.
CADEIO also offers a variety of news and resources on its website. In addition, it is a co-sponsor of the annual National Workshop on Christian Unity.
