This presentation will help you understand the teachings of the Church about end of life care, and encourage you to talk with your loved ones now about your wishes for medical care and treatment in the event that you are unable to speak for yourself. Planning ahead for future medical needs is the best way to ensure that your wishes will be respected, and provides tremendous peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

BIO:

Patty Barnett Mouton serves as Vice President for Outreach & Advocacy at Alzheimer’s Orange County, where she has been on staff since 2005.​  In January 2020, Patty also assumed responsibility for the Advance Care Planning Community Education program for the Hoag Hospital Palliative Care Department.​  ​Prior to 2005, Patty worked in Hospice care for a number of years, and held leadership positions with American Red Cross Blood Services and in business development with divisions of Johnson & Johnson.

She has served as co-chair of the Orange County POLST Coalition, now known as the OC Advance Care Planning Partners, since 2010. She chairs the Cal Optima OneCare Connect Advisory Committee and serves on the Member Advisory Committee. Patty is active on the leadership council for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange Caring for the Whole Person Initiative, which is providing robust community education about improving access to excellent end of life care.  She has served on the Board of Directors for the Sacred Dying Foundation and ​currently serves on ​the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Council to the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Patty serves as chair of the Social Engagement pillar/ Heart to Heart Council of the Orange County Strategic Plan for Aging.
