Priests of the pandemic generation

Group picture of the newly ordained priests on August 8

(On August 8, Archbishop Gomez ordained 8 new priests in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ first ever outdoor ordination, made necessary because of restrictions on worship due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nearly 70,000 people participated through the archdiocese’s social media channels. For more photos from the ceremony, click here. The following is adapted from the Archbishop’s homily.)

This is a beautiful day in the life of the family of God here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

The priesthood is so important, not only for the Church, but also for the whole world. Every priest is a sign of God’s love, a sign that he is still working in the world, still carrying out his plan of redemption.
