Archbishop Gomez celebrates first public Mass since shutdown
On June 7, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Archbishop José H. Gomez celebrated his first Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, with faithful present, since public Masses throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles were suspended nearly three months ago on March 16 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During his homily, Archbishop Gomez welcomed the faithful in attendance at the sprawling Cathedral, saying “today marks a beautiful new beginning for the family of God here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, as many of our churches are opening to celebrate the Eucharist for the first time in many weeks.”
