Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sacred Heart Academy had to pospone it’s annual Gala. Today, for the first time ever, we held our Opportunity Drawing virtually – live streaming on our SHA Facebook page. Many thanks to all our families, parishioners and friends who were able to buy tickets. Thanks also to the folks behind the scenes: Ruby Barr, Maria Downey, Jim Herries, Patty Holohan, Angie Misenheimer, Ana Moreno, Leanne Noble and Mat Troy. When the elimination drawing got down to the last 5 tickets, the families were called and all confirmed that they’d like to spilt the winning funds evenly. We are very excited to announce the 5 winners who each received 20% of the winnings: Ticket #63 Holguin family Tickets #70 Barich family Ticket #309 Good family Ticket #311 Dugas family Ticket #390 Barich family Thank you, one and all! We are truly blessed! #sacredheartacademyredlands #sacredheartacademypreschoolredlands #theholynameofjesusredlands #catholicschoolredlands #catholicpreschoolredlands, catholicjrhighredlands #opportunitydrawing #shagala2020

In addition, a portion of the proceeds from this weekend’s candle program will be given to St. Francis Center @sfcla to support its work with homeless and low income families. Let the light of your love and compassion brighten the Cathedral as you serve our brothers and sisters in need. Go the link in our bio. . . . Este fin de semana les invitamos a que ofrezcan una oración por la intercesión de nuestra queridísima Santa Teresa de Calcuta, enfocándonos en la compasión, el amor y servicio. OLPH Community, On behalf of the Interact Club we would like to extend an invite that was sent to us from Miller’s Children’s Hospital and Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Millers Children’s Hospital has asked if we can make cards for the patients staying there who cannot have visitors at this time. Saint Jospeh’s Hospital has requested cards for their healthcare workers. Both facilities ask that we please refrain from using any religious connotations in our cards. Students can make as any cards as they would like and they can be dropped off on campus on during registration drop off on Monday, 9 a.m. – noon or Tuesday, 4 – 6 p.m. We hope you will take part in this act of appreciation and support! Congratulations to our 2020-21 Student Council officers! We had a Virtual Installation Ceremony this year to honor our outgoing student leaders and offer a blessing for our incoming officers. ASB President Rory Burke ’20 inspired every student to recognize their own leadership roles at #500Bellefontaine: “We’re all leaders, from the classroom to the court, to the stage and beyond,” she said. “It’s the initiative to make difference, which is something we as Mayfield girls do *pretty* well.” Please join us in a huge cheer of gratitude for our amazing 2019-20 Student Council and a rousing welcome for our new student leaders. ❤️🙌🌹(Go to https://bit.ly/ASB-Installation to watch the full video created by editor extraordinaire Karissa Ho ’21.)

May 7th is National Day of Prayer💛💙 As we go through this pandemic, we pray for everyone who’s been confirmed positive, those who aren’t able to be tested, those whose families are affected, anyone who’s lost their jobs at this time, and for everyone around the world as this pandemic will change our lives forever. We encourage you to say a special prayer for these people today. ALSO!!!!! Mother’s Day is on Sunday!!! We pray for all the Mothers out there, whether you have children, are expecting, have lost a child, or are looking to have any. Pictured is two of our very own mothers at OLF! On the left is Mrs. Ourique (TK Teacher) with her son Levi and to the right is Ms. Gonzalez (1st Grade Teacher) with her son Ethan! #OLF #ourladyoffatimaschool #fatimachargers #nationaldayofprayer #pandemic #coronavirus #thoseaffected #mothersday #moms #children

Alexandria Sorenson ’21 is working on a Girl Scout Gold Award project called Awareness to the First Aid Needs of the Homeless, which aims to shed light about the lack of first aid supplies available to the homeless population. Alexandria says, “I plan to change this by informing the public through a video and website I have created and through various collection drives in the community for materials to create first aid kits.” The first aid kits will be donated to the JWCH Wesley Health Center in Los Angeles to distribute to their clients. Without insurance coverage and housing, a small way to help them is by giving them access to first aid supplies and educating them on the ways to deal with small injuries to prevent them from becoming catastrophic life events. For more information, to get involved, or to donate to the project, please visit the Alexandria’s project website— link in bio! #flintridgesacredheart #tologs❤️to❤️
