Varsity Softball Coach 2024-2025 $20 – $36 per hour

Immaculate Heart High School, a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 9 through 12, located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, California seeks a dynamic and experienced Varsity Softball Coach to lead our high school softball program.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport, a commitment to developing student-athletes, and the ability to elevate our program to new heights. The coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the softball program, including Fall Ball, regular season, and post-season play. All employees must personally embrace the mission and vision of Immaculate Heart High School. Each applicant should be willing to wholeheartedly support the athletic department’s philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive softball program that includes skill development, team strategy, and sportsmanship.
    • Set high standards for academic and athletic performance for all student-athletes.
    • Foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture.
  2. Coaching:
    • Plan and conduct effective practice sessions starting in August with Fall Ball and continuing through the regular season and post-season.
    • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to student-athletes to enhance their skills and performance.
    • Develop game strategies, manage game-day activities, and make real-time decisions during competitions.
  3. Administrative Duties:
    • Coordinate scheduling of games, practices, and team events.
    • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and league policies and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of player eligibility, team statistics, and inventory of equipment and uniforms.
  4. Player Support:
    • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and provide support as needed.
    • Advocate for student-athletes with teachers, counselors, and administrators.
    • Promote the physical and mental well-being of players through proper training, conditioning, and injury prevention.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Experience:
    • Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher is required.
    • Knowledge of softball techniques, rules, and strategies.
    • Proven track record of developing and improving athletic programs.
  2. Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, staff, and school administrators.
    • Commitment to upholding the values and mission of Immaculate Heart High School.

Season of Sport:

  • August through May


  • High School diploma or GED
  • Prior high school coaching experience in club and/or high school softball
  • Must be dedicated, enthusiastic, committed and passionate about softball
  • Good communication and organizational skills

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
