Description

Saint Joseph High School, a Catholic college preparatory school dedicated to the holistic education of young women, is seeking a passionate and talented full-time Theatre Arts teacher and producer/director of student productions for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Theatre Arts teacher will instruct and inspire students in grades 9-12 enrolled in drama and choir courses. Additionally, this role requires a dedicated individual who can both produce and direct student productions, bringing to life performances that capture the imagination and showcase the talents of our students. The ideal candidate will

– Teach Theatre Arts classes including drama and choir to students in grades 9-12.
– Produce and direct at least two major student productions per year.
– Develop a curriculum that engages and challenges students, incorporating both performance skills and theoretical knowledge.
– Collaborate with other Arts educators, especially at our brother school, St. John Bosco High School, to integrate cross-disciplinary approaches in Arts education and mount joint productions.
– Organize rehearsals, manage stage settings, and schedule and coordinate all aspects of student productions including casting, rehearsal, performance, and ticket sales.
– Support the school’s mission.
– Contribute to the school community with enthusiasm and creativity.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, Music, Drama Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Prior experience in teaching theatre/drama and choir at the high school level.
Strong background in directing theatrical productions.
Experience teaching vocal instruction.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive Arts environment in line with Catholic values.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
