San Gabriel Mission High School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and faith-filled Spanish Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and inspired by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San José, SGMHS educates young women to become women of faith, intellect, and service.
The ideal candidate will be committed to language acquisition, cultural appreciation, and student-centered instruction while integrating Catholic values into daily classroom practice.
Requirements
Position Summary
The Spanish Teacher will teach four sections of Spanish (non-AP levels) and may also teach one additional Humanities course based on departmental need and candidate experience.
This educator will design engaging, standards-based instruction that builds student proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish while fostering cultural understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. The Humanities course may include subjects such as World History, Ethnic Studies, Social Justice, or a related area aligned with school needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach four sections of Spanish and one Humanities course (as assigned)
- Develop engaging, proficiency-based lessons aligned with ACTFL and Archdiocesan standards
- Foster student growth in Spanish language acquisition and cultural competency
- Design Humanities instruction that promotes critical thinking, historical understanding, and social awareness
- Integrate the Dominican Sisters of Mission San José charism and Four Pillars into classroom practice
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Maintain accurate grading, attendance, and timely feedback
- Use instructional technology to support language learning and student engagement
- Collaborate with faculty across departments on curriculum and school initiatives
- Participate in liturgies, retreats, service projects, and school community events
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for young women
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, Humanities, or related field (required)
- Valid California Teaching Credential (preferred or in progress)
- Fluency in Spanish (required)
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferred (secondary level strongly preferred)
- Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Dominican tradition
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms
- Collaborative, reflective, and student-centered teaching approach

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
