Description
Holy Trinity School is seeking a middle school science teacher for grades 6-8. This position requires the teacher to design, plan, and execute science and innovation lessons and labs directly related to our middle school science curriculum and STREAM standards. The teacher is expected to prepare lesson plans in advance, provide instruction, assign tasks to students, and evaluate student work and progress. The teacher must motivate students with engaging and rigorous lessons. The teacher must provide weekly lab experiences for students incorporating “hands-on” experiments, design challenges, or projects. STREAM will be integrated into the curriculum i.e. religion, robotics, engineering, technology. The teacher is responsible for the ordering/ maintenance of the lab’s STREAM equipment and supplies. The teacher must effectively communicate and manage lab classroom behavior norms to create a positive and rigorous learning environment for all students. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate with staff, administration, parents, and students.
Requirements
– A Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
– Experience: At least three years of experience as a teacher in the subject area, preferably in a Catholic school
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational trends
– The ability to work independently and as part of a team
– A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
