Description
St. Philip the Apostle School is a dynamic double graded TK-8 Catholic School located in Pasadena, California. We are seeking a Recess Coach. Our recess coach is responsible for creating a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all of our students during their recess and lunch times. Our goal is to provide an environment where all students are included. The role of the Recess Coach is to set up games and activities, teach students how to play the games, and teach students strategies to include others, model conflict resolution, and foster collaboration and problem solving. The Recess Coach utilizes the Playworks Program. Playworks helps kids to stay active and build valuable social and emotional life skills through the power of play.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should have experience supervising children in a play environment. This includes but is not limited to experience coaching, working in summer camps, working in a school with play yard responsibilities. Previous experience with the Playworks Program is preferred, however, experienced candidates without Playworks training will be provided with the appropriate training.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, loves to play games and sports with students, is able to model problem solving and conflict resolution and can create an environment where all students feel welcomed and learn how to welcome others.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
